Job description
At Emmi AI, we are redefining how industries innovate. Traditional simulations are slow, expensive, and computationally heavy. We make them fast, scalable and intelligent!
Our AI-Powered physics architecture and models unlock Real-time interaction, slashing simulation times from days to seconds.
Contribute to cutting-edge AI research and help redefine what’s possible in the industry!
The opportunity
As our Simulation Engineer for Crash Testing, you will be the foundational domain expert for our most ambitious project yet: the world’s first Large Engineering Model (LEM) for Crash Testing.
Currently, high-fidelity crash simulations are a bottleneck in vehicle development, taking hours or days to solve. Your mission is to translate decades of traditional FEA "know-how" into a high-performance data engine that trains our model to predict structural deformation near-instantly. You won't just be running simulations; you will be architecting the data "moat" that defines Emmi’s competitive edge.
Your Core Mission:
Architect the Training Strategy: Collaborate with our Research team to define what "perfect" training data looks like. You will determine the necessary variance in geometry, material non-linearity, and mesh granularity required to ensure the optimal data composition for training our LEM
Engineer the Data Flywheel: Own the end-to-end creation of massive, high-fidelity datasets using solvers like LS-DYNA or OpenRadioss. You will build automated, efficient simulation pipelines that continuously "feed" the model, creating an iterative loop between simulation results and ML performance.
Define Industrial KPIs: Act as the internal "Voice of the Customer." You will partner with Product and GTM teams to define the accuracy requirements and technical KPIs that our LEM must hit
Shape the User Experience: Define how an AI-powered crash tool should feel. You’ll decide how to integrate near-instant feedback into existing CAD workflows, ensuring that our model solves real-world pain points for structural engineers.
What we offer:
Hybrid Work Model: Work from Paris or Linz (easily accessible from Vienna) in a hybrid setup that balances in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. We value face-to-face teamwork while giving you flexibility in how you structure your week.
Impact: Shape the future of industrial AI and drive meaningful projects. Enjoy the agility and impact that comes with being part of a dynamic, early-stage team.
Growth & Learning Opportunities: Attend conferences like NeurIPS, participate in offsites, and work in an environment that prioritizes research and continuous learning.
Competitive & Personalized Benefits: A compensation package tailored to your needs and circumstances. As an early-stage company, we offer flexibility and are committed to shaping benefits that work best for our growing team, including VSOP.
What drives us:
Curiosity & Forward Thinking: We're always looking for fresh ideas, ready to question conventional approaches and bring creativity to AI and industrial applications.
Team Collaboration & Respect: We're team-oriented, value others' perspectives, and support each other's success to drive Emmi AI's goals.
Integrity & Accountability: We take ownership of our work and uphold high standards, whether collaborating within the team or with customers.
Adaptability, Resilience & Problem Solving: We thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, approaching challenges with a "how can we make this work?" mindset while staying resilient and adaptable to shifting priorities.
Customer Focused: We're passionate about understanding what our customers need and creating solutions that make a real impact in their world.
Job requirements
You love engineering and coding. You appreciate clean, maintainable solutions even within research-driven projects. This comes naturally to you because of your strong foundation in software engineering best practices (Git, Clean Code, software testing, and working within Linux/HPC environments).
You are a crash-testing simulation expert. You have at least 5 years of industrial experience at a car manufacturer (OEM) or a major Tier 1 simulation provider (e.g., Ansys) and are deeply familiar with every technical aspect of the crash testing simulation workflow.
You are a master of the solver. You have advanced experience using tools like LS-DYNA or OpenRadioss to generate high-fidelity simulations and possess a profound understanding of the underlying mathematics and physics behind these solvers.
You understand the "Sign-Off" process. You are intimately familiar with automotive Verification & Validation (V&V) processes and the specific acceptance criteria used in the crash test simulation industry.
You bridge the gap between Physics and AI. You have a basic understanding of Machine Learning and are excited about bridging the gap between traditional numerical methods and the latest AI advances to build a world-first "Large Engineering Model" (LEM).
You are highly educated in the field. You hold a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative field, giving you the theoretical depth to tackle complex structural mechanics.
You have a "Data Flywheel" mindset. You understand that the quality of an AI model is defined by its data, and you are eager to use your domain expertise to define the optimal variation, granularity, and quantity of datasets needed for training.
Nice to have:
Technical / Tools: Advanced python skills, SQL, Advanced ML skills
Domain Knowledge (e.g. physics, automotive): Sign-off responsibility of crash tests in V&V
At Emmi AI, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We welcome diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences, believing they drive innovation and creativity. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, disability, age, or background.
